Xander's Infinite Journey

Pwnisher's INFINITE JOURNEYS Render Challenge

Here it is, fellow VFX artists! My submission for Clint's INFINITE JOURNEYS render challenge! I promise you, unlike last time, I didn't wait until I only had 3 days left to submit ^_^ I gave myself the entire 3-ish weeks to work on this one from start to finish, and it definitely paid off. I'm quite happy with the result, although seeing everyone else's renders on the discord made me significantly less confident I'd made the top 100.

But making it into the top 100 isn't the point of the challenge at all. The point of the challenge is to grow as an artist; to use the simple prompt and put a piece of your soul into it. And for that, I can say I've succeeded.

Rendered at 500 samples in about 2 hours time w/denoising (thanks RTX 3090) , this piece features Xander, a lone boy in a lone pod on a lone journey through space. Beyond that, I'm afraid I won't elaborate yet :)

If you've paid close enough attention you'll have noticed that the title of the video, "Xander's Infinite Journey" and the title of the piece, "A Lone Boy in a Lone Pod" are different. Don't worry, I promise I don't make such simple mistakes in continuity. There's a reason for this, and you'll see it soon. All I'll say for now, is that this piece isn't finished yet. I'll be using it as a base for a longer and more detailed animation releasing soon. This animation will act as a teaser for a project yet to come. A project I'm sure you'll all enjoy.
