"Shouko Komi"

I've been obsessed with Komi Can't Communicate lately and WOW, I knew from the beginning that I had to draw her. Didn't think it'd end up this cute though. I've been suffering from art block lately and I've been feeling like my skill is degrading with each passing day, so it felt very nice to be able to draw something I'm proud of for once in what FEELS like a while. ALSO, work has been kicking my butt due to the holiday season, so once that's over I'll have a lot more time to breathe. I can't wait :3

The idea for this piece was originally that Najimi decided to go around the classroom taking pictures of all their friends, but somewhere along the line I decided that it should be Tadano behind the camera (hence the blush and tiny smile, hehe). Initially I wanted the final piece to have the camera UI so you kinda get the feel that it's an actual picture being taken on Tadano's phone and that the art isn't simply representing a glimpse at a moment like most of my pieces are. However, I found adding the camera UI just didn't feel right, and rather than figuring out how to better implement it into the piece, I just decided to omit it completely. I like it better that way, anyway :P
Besides, most people who see this probably won't care.

I used a 3D model of a Japanese classroom I found on Sketchfab (my savior) by T I A N.

It's a fantastic model, and it comes with so much detail that I'll probably use it again if I need another Japanese classroom. Rather than modeling a whole classroom myself, most Japanese classrooms look the same so I figured I'd just use somebody else's. Saved me TONS of time :)
